Rai Husain Khan Bhatti (1852 AD - 1948 AD)

In the late 19th century, Rai Husain Khan Bhatti, the direct descendant of Rai Bular Bhatti built a village 3 miles from Talwandi in the center of the Rajput Bhatti Land holdings and named it "Kot Hussein Khan". Today, Kot Hussein Khan has all the amenities of a small city, including a Hospital, a School and a Telephone Exchange. Rai Hussein Bhatti was awarded the highest honor by Queen Victoria at her Golden Jubilee in India for his generosity, leadership, public service and vision.

It is said that Rai Hussein personally escorted over 1,000 Sikhs to safety during the 1947 Indo-Pak partition. The sadness of the partition and the massacre of human life weighed heavy on his heart and he died in 1948. He is buried in the Rajput Bhatti ancestral burial grounds near Talwandi ....
